What exactly is a Powered Frame?
Put simply, a Powered Frame is a backlit frame for canvas art.
Each Powered Frame is outfitted with remote controlled RGB LEDs and efficiently powered by 5V USB.
What does backlighting do for the artwork?
The backlighting serves two purposes.
The secondary purpose of the backlighting is to provide a "frame of light" around the painting in order to initially draw the eye to the fact that the painting has lighting.
More importantly, the backlighting completely changes how the artwork looks by shining light through certain areas (like planets) and not through others (like the black of space).
The RGB lighting provides an added dynamic and further alters the artwork's appearance due to the way light shines through the different colors of paint. Basically, red light will shine brightly through red paint but will be much dimmer through blue paint and vice versa, so some paintings seem to pulse out of rhythm if set to a changing light color pattern.
